The Roomba J7+ is iRobot's most intelligent robot vacuum to date. Its greatest innovation is a camera-based obstacle detection system that utilizes built-in AI to detect objects like charging cords, shoes and the pet waste that the majority of other robots cannot avoid (and often slough through). It's the first robot to send you pictures of the objects that it encounters, so that you can tell the robot to avoid it.
The Combo J7+ is the best robot mop we have ever tested. It picks up dirt and spills quickly leaving no trace it was there. It's simple to control via the iRobot Home app which allows you to schedule cleaning and create Keep Out Zones so that it doesn't vacuum areas you don't want it to. And it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can turn it on and off with your voice.
Its design is superior to the rest and features a sleek, top piece that looks more like a toy rather than a loud, loud one. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System self-empties which is great to reduce the time spent cleaning.
In our tests the j7+ performed quick to remove dust dirt, pet hair and even pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in its place instead of scattering it across the floor. It was able to capture small gravel, sand and even a bit of grit. The majority of robots cannot accomplish this feat. It did all this without getting tangled in our pet's hair.
The j7+, although not as sophisticated as the Roomba S9 for $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot and can't clean the stairs, it's a good option for those who require both mopping and vacuum. It's not costly and the iRobot App makes it simple to use.
The iRobot Home App is easy to use, but we found it less reliable than other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates and it's sometimes difficult to tell if they are working until you actually see them in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you want a robot vacuum cleaner that does more than simply clean your floors, a hybrid is the best option. These robots come with a water tank so they can vacuum and mop simultaneously. They also come with a variety of extra features such as smart mapping and small object avoidance and the ability to wash and re-dry mopping pads. They are expensive at retail, but they often lower prices on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
Roborock makes several of our top robotic vacuums and the Q5+ doesn't disappoint. This is the cheapest model of their auto-empty line. Although it might not have some of the more luxurious features (like no-go zones and multi-story memories) but it's an excellent choice when you're willing to make a few compromises to save a few bucks.
The Q5+ is noticeably gentle around obstacles like table legs and walls which makes it a great choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also very thorough in removing dust bunnies. This is a area where many cheaper robot vacuums do not excel in. The Q5+'s navigation system is also excellent, with few misses along walls or in corners.
Like other Roborock devices, the Q5+ can be controlled by the buttons on the device itself or via the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleaning. You can also set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go areas or adjust your home map, or change the room's label.
If you choose to purchase the Q5+, it comes with a brand new auto-empty dock that's designed specifically to make this robot easy to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once in place, emptying the bin can be accomplished with relative ease. It comes with a huge LCD screen that is very useful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This isn't an essential feature for the majority of people, but it's one that can assist you in keeping the track of your robot's maintenance intervals with ease.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's astonishingly smart in both its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design is among the top in the market however, it's costly.
The base station is attractive and is easily hidden when not in use, and its size is quite compact. But the station's biggest selling factor is its ability to automate numerous tasks and functions that most other robots will leave to you. It stores clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which most other robovacs require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot charged and clean.
And its vacuuming is impressive and efficient, too. It's one of the only robovacs that I've tried that does very well at picking up debris on plain floors, and is not nearly as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.
The Freo X Ultra is not without flaws, especially when it comes navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren’t as reliable as other robotvacs. This means that it is prone to getting stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms in the home. It can't navigate stairs as well as some competitors, for instance, and it doesn't have an dock that allows the user to set up an area for cleaning that is specifically designed for plush carpets.
Although it doesn't have the same amount of cleaning options available in its app, or as many shortcuts within the app as other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for those seeking a great all-round mop and vacuum cleaner that's worth the price price.
If you're looking for a way to save money or aren't averse to the limitations of the robot, there are other options available. Many of the eufy models cost considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for example, is cheaper however it comes with more features, including stairs and a fully-function Dock, with a better overall vacuuming experience on plain floors, low-pile carpets and even high-pile ones.
4. Eufy RoboVac G30
Eufy, a Anker company, has a track record of producing robot vacuums that strike the right balance between performance, features and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different and offers a powerful cleaning of hard floors and carpets and mopping function too at a reasonable price. It's easy to set up simply by snapping one of the side brushes on, turn it on, and plug it into the charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps required to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. The dock must be located close to an outlet that has plenty of room to move.
The G30 is small, 2.85 inches tall to be exact It can be placed under sofas and other furniture with low clearance. Its design is less ostentatious in comparison to other models. It features a sleek black finish and three physical buttons for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs the area in a spiral pattern over two minutes), Recharge, and Spot Cleaner. You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to conduct cleaning without a schedule using voice commands.
The way in which the G30 cleans is what sets it apart from other models. It uses an integrated map to create an image of the unmovable objects in its path. It keeps track of the things it has cleaned and what it is unable to access. When it needs to recharge, it automatically returns to its starting point and begins cleaning from where it started.
The elegant G30 has some flaws. The iRobot Roomba 675 is better constructed, has lower recurring expenses, charges more quickly and has the same battery life, while providing superior performance on floors that are unfinished and carpets with low pile. It also comes with a larger dust bin that doesn't need to be emptied as often and comes with an array of boundary strips to keep it away from certain areas. The G30 on the other hand is less expensive and much easier to maintain. Its smaller container means it doesn't need to be emptied as frequently, and it has less difficulty with bulky items like cereal.
